DARN

Dutch Arbovirus Research Network (DARN)

Arthropod-borne viruses (arboviruses) present a growing threat to both public and veterinary health due to the geographic spread of invasive vector species and the ongoing introduction of emerging and re-emerging viruses. Factors such as climate change, and shifts in land use contribute to increased interactions between vectors, wildlife, livestock, and humans, ultimately increasing arboviral disease burden.

The Netherlands is home to renowned research groups focusing on arboviruses across different disciplines including virology, entomology, immunology, and social sciences.

The goal of the DARN (Dutch Arbovirus Research Network) is to bring together researchers in arbovirology to i) promote the regular exchange of scientific results and ideas, ii) facilitate opportunities for collaboration between disciplines, and to iii) increase the visibility of arbovirology research in the Netherlands and beyond.

We organize an annual scientific meeting with an invited (inter)national key-note speaker, presentations, pitches and networking opportunities.

Looking forward to meeting you at the next DARN meeting!
