Uitnodiging onthulling tweede Nederlandse Mijlpaal in de Microbiologie

Het Cantonspark in Baarn is de plek waar Johanna Westerdijk onderzoek heeft gedaan. Zij was de grondlegger voor het onderzoek aan schimmels en plantenziektes en werd in 1917 benoemd door de Universiteit Utrecht tot eerste vrouwelijke hoogleraar in Nederland. De Koninklijke Nederlands Vereniging voor Microbiologie (KNVM) heeft deze plek daarom uitgeroepen tot Nederlandse Mijlpaal in de Microbiologie.

Op 11 april wordt de plaquette onthuld die deze mijlpaal markeert. De onthulling en daarop volgende receptie wordt georganiseerd door de KNVM en de stichting Vrienden van het Cantonspark.

Invitation to the unveiling of the second Dutch Milestone in Microbiology

The Cantonspark in Baarn is the place where Johanna Westerdijk conducted her research. She was a pioneer for research on fungi and plant diseases and in 1917 was appointed by Utrecht University as the first female professor in the Netherlands. The Royal Netherlands Society for Microbiology (KNVM) has therefore declared this place as a Dutch Milestone in Microbiology.

On April 11, the plaque marking this milestone will be unveiled. The unveiling and subsequent reception will be organized by the KNVM and the foundation Friends of the Cantonspark.
