Nominations open for the KNAW Beijerinck Premium

For virological research activities by early-career scientists

 

The KNAW invites early-career researchers engaged in virological research to submit an application for the Beijerinck Premium. The grant consists of 12,500 euros to finance activities that make a significant contribution to advancing scientific research in the field of virology. Are you eligible for this opportunity? Who is this for?

Early career researchers who are carrying out virus-related research at a research institution in the Kingdom of the Netherlands and who received their PhD three to seven years ago.
 

What is it?

A grant of 12,500 euros to finance activities that make a significant contribution to advancing scientific research in the field of virology. Examples of such activities include organizing a symposium, conducting a working visit abroad, purchasing virology-related scientific instruments, or the organization of public outreach, patient care, or educational activities. Up to two Premiums are awarded each year.
 

Applications welcome until 31 October 2024

More information

With the aim of better aligning the Beijerinck Premium with the needs in the field and current developments in the academic landscape, from 2025 onwards it will be designated for two early-career researchers contributing to virology research in the broadest sense of the word.

The KNAW aims to announce which two researchers will be awarded a Beijerinck Premium early February 2025.

The Premium is made available from the M.W. Beijerinck-Virology Fund, administered by Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW).
