Scientific Top Training in Antimicrobial Research

Recently, the Amsterdam Institute for Molecules, Medicines and Systems (AIMMS) at VU Amsterdam, has been awarded an MSCA Cofund grant for continuation of its STAR graduate programme. The AIMMS STAR graduate programme offers a unique opportunity for Master’s students in their final year to learn more about antimicrobial research and resistance through a post-graduate course and training on grant writing. This knowledge will serve the students to write their own research proposal, under supervision of an AIMMS researcher. 

The Master’s students will complete their studies at their own university; the STAR-PLUS programme is an additional programme and contact with AIMMS supervisors is mostly through email or video conferences.

After a two-step selection process in the academic year ’16-‘17, we will be able to offer the four most outstanding STAR-PLUS students fully paid PhD positions for four years (partly funded by MSCA, partly funded by AIMMS). 

In short, we are looking for –international- MSc students who:

•    Are highly motivated and top-talented
•    Are keen on intra-European mobility to perform PhD research, specifically in Amsterdam
•    Are able to work in a multidisciplinary team
•    Have good writing and communication skills
•    Are keen on finding solutions for solving problems related to antimicrobial research and resistance

Interested candidates are asked to send in a CV, motivation letter and reference letter before 15 September 2016. Interviews with the candidates are scheduled for the first week of October.
